The New York Mets added a solid left-handed arm to their bullpen on Friday, as they have reached an agreement with veteran reliever Justin Wilson.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that the deal is worth $10 million over two seasons.
Free agent reliever Justin Wilson is in agreement with the New York Mets on a two-year, $10 million deal, league sources tell ESPN. Deal includes $500,000 in performance bonuses each year.

Wilson posted a 3.46 ERA in 71 appearances with the Chicago Cubs last season. He has a career 3.33 ERA and has pitched for four teams over the past seven seasons. He pitched in a setup role with Chicago for a good portion of the year in 2018, recording 16 holds. Wilson struck out 69 batters in 54.2 innings last season and a whopping 80 batters in 58 innings in 2017, so you can understand why he holds value in the back end of a bullpen.
While $10 million over two years is nothing to scoff at, there’s a reason we had Wilson listed among our best bargains remaining in free agency. He should be a nice addition for the Mets.
