Pete Alonso will participate in Home Run Derby
One of Major League Baseball’s brightest young sluggers is taking his talents to the Home Run Derby.
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso confirmed Friday that he will be participating in the 2019 Derby in Cleveland, becoming the third player to formally commit to the event.
Pete Alonso has been invited to the Home Run Derby and will participate, the Mets' rookie standout told Yahoo. "It's going to be a blast, a dream come true," Alonso said.

Alonso has 27 home runs in his first 81 MLB games, and has been one of the bright spots in what has become a difficult season for the Mets.
Carlos Santana of the Cleveland Indians and another star rookie, Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr., have also confirmed their participation. The rest of the field has yet to be announced, but some other very exciting power hitters are apparently patiently awaiting their invites.
