Ryan Vogelsong upset how Jordan Lyles handled hitting him in face with pitch

Earlier this season, Ryan Vogelsong was hit in the face by a pitch from Jordan Lyles. On Thursday, he explained why he’s still upset with the Rockies pitcher.

On May 23, Vogelsong suffered multiple facial fractures as a result of a 92 mph offering from Lyles hitting him in cheek. While Vogelsong (who is a pitcher himself) forgives Lyles for the incident itself, he’s discussed why he is still upset with what transpired afterward during an interview with MLB Network Radio on Thursday.

Lyles surely has his reason(s) for not reaching out to Vogelsong until about two weeks ago. However, it’s understandable the 39-year-old would be upset considering how long ago the incident happened and the possible severity of the result.

After being out of action for over two months, Vogelsong made his return to the mound last week. In his two starts since coming back, the veteran has allowed just six hits and one earned with 11 strikeouts over 12 innings.
