Report: Twins GM turns down Mets, will stay in Minnesota
The New York Mets continue to search for a new general manager after Sandy Alderson was forced to step aside for health reasons back in June, and it sounds like at least some of the candidates on their short list have no interest in the job.
Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Mets were seeking permission to interview Minnesota Twins GM Thad Levine, but LeVine declined and said he is going to remain in his current role.
According to a source, the Mets reached out to the Twins for permission to speak with Thad Levine about their GM job, but Levine declined, choosing to stay with Minnesota.

Earlier in the week, SNY’s Andy Martino reported that the Mets also had interest in meeting with ex-Red Sox GM Ben Cherington, who withdrew his name from consideration as well.
Levine will be leading a search for a new manager with the Twins this year, so perhaps he wants to stick around and see things through. The bigger story is that the Mets seem to be having trouble finding someone to take their GM job, which could speak to some of the perceived dysfunction within the organization.
