Draymond Green reportedly arrested for assault
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was arrested for assault in Michigan over the weekend.
Brendan F. Quinn of MLive.com reports that Green was taken into custody on Sunday, though details of the alleged incident are unknown. The East Lansing Police Department confirmed that an NBA player was arrested for assault but did not give Green’s name.
“The police department is not confirming any arrest with that name,” Lt. Scott Wrigglesworth told MLive.com. “What I can confirm is that we did arrest a current NBA basketball player this weekend and he was arrested for assault. That’s all we’re confirming right now.”
Green has to return to East Lansing to be arraigned within 10 days, according to Quinn.
Green is one of the Warriors’ most important players, having averaged 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game last season. His absence was immediately felt after he was suspended in the NBA Finals for hitting LeBron James in the groin (video here). The NBA will likely conduct an investigation into the alleged incident, and Green could face disciplinary action pending the outcome.
