Jamal Murray has worrying comment about his new injury
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray offered a concerning comment about a new injury he picked up during the team’s Western Conference semifinals loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday.
Murray admitted after Thursday’s loss that he hurt his right elbow early in Denver’s 115-70 Game 6 loss. The star guard hurt himself when he ran into a Rudy Gobert screen, and suggested the injury was part of what led to a terrible 4-for-18 shooting night.
Perhaps more concerningly, Murray admitted that he was not entirely sure how the elbow would respond ahead of Game 7.
“I hope, for our team’s sake I hope I can get it right,” Murray said, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. “We got two days off. I just got to get ready and be able to be better for Sunday. Yeah, [it’s got] to be better for Sunday, man.”
Murray sounds more hopeful than he does optimistic, which might not be a good sign. The Nuggets have been at their best this postseason when Murray is playing well, as he has averaged 19.7 points in the team’s three wins over Minnesota compared with 11.7 points in their three defeats. He also authored one of the more memorable moments of the entire series. If he is limited for Game 7, that could mean big trouble for Denver.
