Kevin Durant has officially been traded to the Houston Rockets, and the two-time NBA Finals MVP took to social media on Sunday to say farewell to his former team.

The trade sending Durant to the Rockets was finalized on Sunday, and it wound up being a record deal that involves seven different teams. Durant was the centerpiece, with the Suns getting Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green.

After the trade was completed, Durant shared a message on X expressing gratitude for the two-plus seasons he spent in Phoenix.

“My time in Phoenix has come to an end. All these stops along the journey have really impacted me in a positive way. Remeber (sic) it’s a world behind the scenes, and those who make things work in that space, work tirelessly to make our lives easier as players,” Durant wrote on X. “I appreciate all the quick interactions with everybody from support staff to teammates distant cousins, it’s all a family that I’m grateful to be apart of, no matter what. I truly believe this nba is a one big community. Much love to Arizona. Houston, Can’t Wait!”

Durant’s brief tenure in Phoenix will not be viewed as a success. While he played at a high level, the Suns only won one playoff series in three seasons with Durant on their roster. They missed the playoffs altogether this past season, despite having a “Big Three” of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.

Durant also had some issues with former Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer, though he was quick to downplay that.

The Rockets were able to keep the majority of their young core together while acquiring Durant. They should be a strong contender in the Western Conference next season as long as Durant can remain healthy.
