Report: Knicks seeking second-round pick in Frank Ntilikina trade
The New York Knicks have reportedly been shopping former top-10 pick Frank Ntilikina since the season ended, and there’s still a chance he could be dealt before or during the NBA Draft on Thursday night. As of now, it does not sound like the asking price for the point guard is all that high.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, the Knicks are open to listening to offers for Ntilikina and have asked at least one team for a second-round pick in exchange. Considering Ntikilina was the No. 8 overall pick in the draft two years ago and is only 20, that sounds like a fairly reasonable ask.
Ntilikina hired a new agent earlier this offseason, and there has been speculation that he wants a fresh start. He denied that, but it is not a big surprise that the Knicks are open to moving him.
Ntilikina appeared in just 43 games for the Knicks in his second season as he battled injuries, and he did not show any improvement offensively from his disappointing rookie season. He averaged just 5.7 points and 2.8 assists per game while shooting just 33.7 percent from the field. Ntilikina has a high ceiling as a defender at 6-foot-6 with a 7-foot-1 wingspan, but he has not lived up to expectations since being a lottery pick. It’s possible his career with the Knicks was doomed from the start.
