Report: Lakers, Knicks, Jazz discussed blockbuster 3-team trade
The New York Knicks remain interested in finding a way to acquire Donovan Mitchell, and it sounds like the Los Angeles Lakers may be able to help them with that.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports that the Knicks have discussed a potential three-team trade scenario with the Lakers and Utah Jazz. The proposed deal involved Mitchell going to the Knicks and Westbrook landing in Utah, though Westrbook’s contract would be bought out. The Jazz are set on acquiring as many first-round picks as possible for Mitchell, and the idea would be for them to receive a plethora of picks from New York and the Lakers.
As for the Lakers, the scenario would see the Jazz send them at least two players from a group including Patrick Beverley, Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic and Malik Beasley. L.A. also has interest in Knicks forward Cam Reddish, according to Scotto.
The conversations about a three-team trade are said to have taken place weeks ago, so it’s unclear where they currently stand. While the Knicks remain the favorite to land Mitchell, at least two other teams reportedly entered the mix recently.
