Mike Bibby hoping to land spot as assistant for former team

Mike Bibby’s comeback tour continues to blaze forward.

Sean Cunningham of KXTV in Sacramento reported on Tuesday that the retired NBA point guard is hoping to land a spot as an assistant for the Memphis Grizzlies on the staff of head coach JB Bickerstaff.

Bibby, who recently turned 40 years old, actually began his professional career with the Grizzlies back when they were still in Vancouver. He was drafted by them with the No. 2 overall pick in 1998 and spent his first three NBA seasons there before he was traded to the Sacramento Kings in 2001. That was right around the time that the franchise relocated to Memphis.

Recent weeks have seen Bibby back in the headlines for how jacked he is now. Being able to parlay the memes into an NBA coaching job would certainly be one heck of a flex on his part.
