Video: Emotional Mike Breen sums up NBA world’s emotions about Kobe Bryant’s death

Kobe Bryant

The NBA world remains in shock over the death of Kobe Bryant on Sunday, and New York Knicks broadcaster Mike Breen summed up a lot of those feelings at the start of the evening’s game.

Breen, known to national audiences as the play-by-play voice of the NBA on ESPN, was clearly emotional as he spoke about the sadness he felt, as well as the sadness players felt playing the games. Breen admitted that he didn’t feel like calling the game, and that “a lot of the players don’t feel like playing.”

Breen’s comments are a good summary of how many in the game are feeling right now. At least one player close to Bryant couldn’t even bring himself to play Sunday night, and many players probably would have preferred to be with their loved ones to reflect and grieve. Breen summed up those emotions quite beautifully on a very sad day.
