Russell Westbrook explains his incredible ‘Shammgod’ play
Russell Westbrook left fans spellbound with a beautiful move in the fourth quarter of the Thunder’s win over the Suns on Saturday.
Westbrook was being guarded by Devin Booker when he got a screen and dribbled to the free throw line. Then he completely stunned Tyler Ulis with an amazing “Shammgod,” which is a ridiculous one-handed crossover made famous by former player God Shammgod. Westbrook got credit for an assist as he dished to Steven Adams for the dunk. Take a look:
After the game, Westbrook acknowledged he was trying to entertain the fans.
“Sometimes I try time stuff, sometimes it goes well, sometimes it don’t. I tried it, it worked,” Westbrook said after the game. “I just try to read and react to my man, try different moves, bring some joy to the game. That’s what I try to do every night — have fun, put smiles on peoples’ faces. That’s the best part of this game — being able to touch people in different ways in all parts of the world by having fun and enjoying the game.”
