Floyd Mayweather on ’30 Days in May’ says men can have multiple women

Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s “30 Days in May” documentary aired on Showtime Wednesday, marking his most visible appearance on the premium channel since he signed with the network in February.

The program had a completely different feel from what viewers were used to seeing on HBO’s “24/7” series. The documentary was shown in a countdown style, taking viewers through a day-by-day look at how Mayweather spent his last 30 days before turning himself in to serve his jail sentence for domestic violence and harassment. The production and footage was done by a Mayweather in-house crew, giving a more first-person look at his life than what we are used to seeing. The documentary was extremely self-promotional — even by Mayweather standards — and boasted about the boxer’s influence in the city of Las Vegas. It honestly felt like a PR commercial for Floyd rather than a compelling drama.

There were many notable quotes from Mayweather during the show, but perhaps the one that stood out most concerned Money’s stance on relationships. The way Floyd sees it, a man should be able to have multiple women so long as he can handle it. His analogy for the situation compared women to a fleet of cars.

“When it comes to females, even though you can’t drive 10 cars at one time, but, you got people that got 10 cars,” said Mayweather. “So you’re able to keep maintenance up on 10 cars. So I feel that as far as it comes to females, that same thing should apply. If you’re able to take care of 20 then you should have 20.”

So does that mean Floyd has multiple women? And what does his fiancee, Shantel Jackson, think of his stance?

“I’m not the jealous type,” she says. “I know who I am and I know where we stand. I just feel like when you have that type of relationship where you can be open and honest, I just think it helps the trust and it helps keep things new and fresh. So it doesn’t bother me and it’s never bothered me. I just think when you let a man be him, he will respect you that much to not disrespect you.”

The documentary goes on to show Mayweather and “The Money Team” partying at a strip club in Atlanta. They bring girls with them for a private show in what appeared to be a hotel room, and there were copious amounts of nudity. We’re talking full back and frontal nudity. It was as graphic as I’ve ever seen on a sports program, and Mayweather was in the middle of it, so obviously Jackson is OK with it.

“I don’t know, man, it’s just my life. Strip clubs is what it is. We was born naked, so let the girls party naked,” justified Mayweather.

Mayweather also shared his thoughts on the boxing business and how it’s similar to the music industry.

“What they say [is] the music business and the boxing business are the two worst businesses to be involved with. There are so many leeches. Everyone always have their hand out. And I think that they think that sometimes entertainers and athletes have more than they really have. What I was talking to (rapper) Drake about was being a living legend. And I told him he had the potential and the talent to be the next 2Pac, to be the next Biggie.”

Having the freedom to live his life the way he wants to is big for Floyd. That’s one of the huge reasons why he was so worried about going to jail where he would have most of his freedoms restricted.

“People should be able to live their life like they want to live their life. I don’t want nobody to tell me how to live my life, so, we shouldn’t tell nobody how to live their life.”

Another interesting note about the program is that from what I could tell, 50 Cent was not shown once during the whole documentary. The two used to be best friends and 50 was even there to pick Floyd up when he was released from jail. That tight relationship is long over.
