Ryan Garcia makes big claim ahead of potential suspension
Ryan Garcia made a big claim on Wednesday ahead of a looming suspension.
Garcia went on a social media rant and aired out all his current issues. Amid the flurry of messages, he said he would be retiring.
“Mom has cancer
“I’m being sued
“My supplements were tainted
“Going thru a divorce
“Always GETTING S-IT TALKED on the internet FOR YEARS
“Devin asking for my victory to be taken away
“I’m getting hit with everything
“I STILL LOVE GOD, HE IS EVERYTHING,” Garcia said in his rant (profanity edited by LBS).

Garcia then said he was considering retirement and going into acting or singing.
Yall may catch me out and about but as far as boxing I don’t know
There is so much corruption I’m over it
I may do acting or singing
I’ll still be training but I’m hurt and done with it and everyone
The sad part is I’m a great boxer
And I entertain and knock people out…

And then after several messages, Garcia concluded by announcing his retirement.
“I’m officially retired,” Garcia ultimately said.
Garcia has become just as well known in recent years for his off-the-wall social media activity as for his boxing. But boxing reporter Dan Rafael noted that Garcia’s “retirement” claim came just ahead of when the boxer is set to be suspended for his positive drug test after his win over Devin Haney.
Lololololololololol. Just so happens to coincide with when NYSAC about to provisionally suspend him pending a hearing to determine the length of the suspension and officially overturn the result of the Haney fight. https://t.co/g6rDGvb5bB

The 25-year-old Garcia is 25-1 in his pro boxing career. He lost to Gervonta Davis in 2023 and beat Haney in April, though that outcome is set to be overturned due to Garcia’s positive drug test.
