Avery Johnson comments on expelled student’s viral racist video
Avery Johnson commented on the racist video of a now-expelled Alabama student following the Crimson Tide’s 76-71 win over rival Auburn on Wednesday.
A young woman named Harley Barber posted videos on social media Monday of her using the N-word at liberty and making a fool of herself. Barber was kicked out of her sorority on Tuesday, and then she confirmed on Wednesday that she had been expelled from the university.
“There was an unfortunate video, are you guys familiar with the vile, abhorrent that was released on yesterday or the day before, whatever. Obviously, I stand with the university. We don’t condone that kind of behavior. It’s very unfortunate. I know the university is going to deal with it,” said Johnson, via AL.com.
“This university has taken a strong stand on diversity and inclusion and I stand with Dr. (Stuart) Bell and I stand with Greg Byrne with promoting an atmosphere of inclusion and we have some terrific players on our team from great families, whether it’s single parent or two parents, it doesn’t matter. So, I was really disturbed by that video and I thought you guys needed to know about that,” Johnson said.
In addition to Johnson, Crimson Tide running back Damien Harris has commented on the video.
This girl goes to the same university as me but they say, “racism is dead.” Unfortunately, this thread says the opposite. https://t.co/OaYeCVEGUQ

The worst part to me is the fact that people are still oblivious to the fact that stuff like this still goes on https://t.co/t0u3O03oha

Prior to his game against Auburn, Tide forward Braxton Key shared this note on social media about the video.

Barber has already been dealt with by the school and expelled.
