Coach K: Zion Williamson could be ready for ACC Tournament
Zion Williamson has not played for Duke since injuring his knee in the opening minute of the team’s loss to North Carolina last month thanks to an infamous shoe blowout. Though he is doubtful for Duke’s regular season finale against the rival Tar Heels, his return seems imminent.
Coach K spoke with the media on Friday and indicated Williamson could be ready for the ACC Tournament.
Coach K on Zion's status for 6 pm game Saturday at Chapel Hill is "doubtful," but those w/ ACC tourney tickets for Charlotte will be happy to know Zion's prognosis for that event is much better.
"The way he’s going, he won’t be doubtful for the tournament," Coach K said today.— Scott Fowler (@scott_fowler) March 8, 2019
The ACC Tournament begins on Tuesday in Charlotte, though Duke would not play its first game until Thursday thanks to their status as a top-four seed. That would give Williamson nearly another week off.
There was talk about Williamson potentially skipping the rest of the season following his injury, though he waved off that notion. The stellar freshman could be ready to help Duke in the ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament if all goes well.
