Kansas-Kansas State suspensions handed out for fight
The Big 12 on Wednesday announced suspensions for players involved in Tuesday night’s fight between Kansas and Kansas State.
No surprise, Silvio De Sousa received the harshest penalty — a 12-game suspension. His teammate, David McCormack, received a two-game suspension.
From Kansas State’s side, James Love, who fought with De Sousa, received eight games, while Antonio Gordon received a three-game suspension.

David McCormack – 2 games
Kansas State
James Love – 8 games
Antonio Gordon – 3 games
“This kind of behavior cannot be tolerated and these suspensions reflect the severity of last evening’s events,” Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a statement. “I am appreciative of the cooperation of both institutions in resolving this matter.”
Kansas originally said De Sousa was suspended indefinitely. It’s unclear whether either program plans additional discipline for its players, or whether De Sousa’s suspension will continue beyond what the conference decided.
De Sousa did issue this apology:
I’m sorry for my actions last night, please read this: pic.twitter.com/cmkEO0I5Ax
