The Texas Longhorns are making major changes to their coaching staff following the disappointing 7-5 regular season this year.
Not only has defensive coordinator Todd Orlando been fired from Tom Herman’s staff, but Texas fired wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer and reassigned Tim Beck from his offensive coordinator post, Orange Bloods’ Anwar Richardson reports. Co-wide receivers coach Corby Meekins is also being reassigned.
Sources tell me Texas football coach Tom Herman has relieved OC Tim Beck and WR coach Drew Mehringer of their duties, while Co-WR coach Corby Meekins has been reassigned. Beck will have a non-OC role. Mehringer is fired. Meekins will have an off-the-field position.

Both Richardson and the Austin American-Statesman’s Brian Davis say there would have been a revolt had Mehringer remained on the staff.
From what I can gather, if WR coach Drew Mehringer had remained on the Texas staff as of 9 a.m. Monday, there would've been a serious internal revolt.

Richardson says Texas is expected to pursue USC’s Graham Harrell and LSU’s Joe Brady for the offensive coordinator job.
According to my sources, the top two candidates to replace offensive coordinator Tim Beck at Texas are USC's Graham Harrell and LSU's Joe Brady.

The big changes by the Longhorns are essentially Texas’ way of communicating how unhappy they are with the results of the season, while still allowing Herman to keep his job.
Texas went 7-6 in Herman’s first season, which was an improvement over Charlie Strong’s two straight 5-7 years. They went 10-4 last year and beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, which led to the belief that Texas was “back.” However, they completely fell off this season with a 7-5 record. Such a record is unacceptable for the program, and Texas is showing so by making changes.
