Former USC interim head coach Ed Orgeron is considered one of the better recruiting coaches in college football. That is one of the reasons LSU has hired him as a defensive line coach, and Orgeron’s voicemail message proves he has gotten to work immediately.
On Tuesday, ESPN Baton Rouge’s Culotta and The Prince Show decided to give Orgeron an unscheduled phone call. They got his voicemail instead, which was probably just as good of a result. Here’s the audio:
“Hi, this is coach Ed Orgeron with LSU football,” the recording said. “Sorry I can’t take your call right now, but I’m out recruiting the best football players in the country for LSU.”
Orgeron, who was born and raised in Louisiana, even included an LSU battle cry at the end.
As soon as LSU hired Orgeron, he said he couldn’t wait to recruit in the “great state of Louisiana” with an LSU logo on his chest. It doesn’t sound like he was joking. We can only hope he doesn’t resort to the cheesy tactics that some other teams have decided to use over the past few years.
