Michigan sends funny breakup tweet to Notre Dame as series goes on hold
Michigan sent a funny tweet on Saturday night after beating rival Notre Dame 45-14 in Ann Arbor.
The two teams met every year from 2002-2014 and had a two-game series in 2018 and 2019. The Fighting Irish won last year’s game, while Michigan won this year’s to even the series.
The teams are not set to meet again until 2033, which led the Wolverines’ athletics Twitter account to send a funny breakup tweet.
Dear @NDFootball, we need to take a break. We’ve been doing this for a while now and we need our space. We’re glad we could end on good terms, thank you for not being defensive. Let’s keep in touch and maybe we’ll try again in 14 years if you’re still independent.

We can’t wait for the series to resume, even if Brian Kelly does not think of it as much of a rivalry.
Michigan leads the head-to-head rivalry 25-17-1.
