Oklahoma RB Rodney Anderson out for the season

Rodney Anderson

Rodney Anderson is out for the rest of the season, Oklahoma announced on Sunday.

The Sooners running back left Saturday’s win over UCLA after suffering a knee injury in the second quarter. There was some initial talk that the injury was bad, and even a report saying he would miss the rest of the year. That turned out to be accurate.

“We’re heartbroken for him,” said Riley of Anderson. “He’s overcome so much in his career, and if anybody can do it again it’s Rodney.”

Anderson suffered a season-ending leg injury in 2015 and season-ending neck injury the following year. He finally broke out with 1,161 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns last season and seemed ready for stardom in 2018. An injury will unfortunately end those plans for this year.

Sophomore Trey Sermon and freshman T.J. Pledger will likely see larger roles with Anderson out.
