The USC Trojans will not be simplifying their offense to make things easier for true freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis.
Slovis entered Saturday night’s 31-23 win over Fresno State after starter JT Daniels went down with a knee injury before halftime. USC did not exactly ask the freshman to let it rip. Slovis mostly handed the ball off and went 6/8 for 57 yards and an interception. 41 of his passing yards came on one long pass.
Despite USC’s obvious lack of confidence shown in Slovis during the Fresno State game, the Trojans’ coaches said Tuesday they will not change the offense for the youngster.
USC OC Graham Harrell flatly says he won’t call a simpler offense for frosh starter Kedon Slovis: “We game-plan the same.”

Head coach Clay Helton also said Slovis would not be on a short leash.
Clay Helton said that Kedon Slovis won’t be on a tight leash. “I don’t want Kedon looking over his shoulder,” he said.

Matt Fink, who was second on the depth chart behind Daniels last season, is backing up Slovis. There has been no word about whether Jack Sears, another quarterback, would be invited back to the program.
USC faces Stanford on Saturday. The Cardinal may be using a second-string QB as well.
