Simi Valley baseball team recreates Sandlot photo for Halloween
The Simi Valley (Calif.) High School baseball team blew away all competition with their awesome Halloween costumes.
Nine members of the school’s baseball program banded together to recreate the iconic photo from “The Sandlot,” and they absolutely nailed it.
From the clothing to the poses, the Simi Valley crew did not spare any details. Their Benny The Jet Rodriguez, Squints and Bertrum replicas were dead on. The guy dressed as Timmy Timmons perfected the lean. They even had the perfect hand placement for Ham Porter!
Mark Miles, an assistant coach for the Pioneers, tells Larry Brown Sports that the program holds an intrasquad game on Halloween with all the players dressed up in costumes. They got the idea from one of their alumnus who went to San Diego State, which also holds an annual Halloween game in costume.
Miles said his reaction upon seeing the nine players in their Sandlot garb was, “wow, that’s pretty good!” He also believes the clever costumes, which fit perfectly since the team was going to be playing a baseball game, “could be the best” costumes they’ve ever had.
We can’t imagine anyone had better ones.
There were plenty of other good costumes, though.
Freshmen were not part of the intrasquad game, so a handful of them dressed up as referees and served as umpires:

Many of the other players came through with great costumes as well. Take a look over at Page 2 of the post:
