Report: Baker Mayfield expected to play Week 7 despite ankle injury
Baker Mayfield suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that may have played a role in his poor performance, but it does not sound like anything too serious.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Monday that Mayfield should be able to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next weekend despite dealing with a sprain.
Baker Mayfield wouldn’t say it after the game, but the #Browns starter did turn his ankle during the game, limiting his effectiveness, I’m told. He’s got soreness and will get treatment for the sprain over the course of the week, but Mayfield shouldn’t miss time.

After playing well enough to lead the Cleveland Browns to an upset win over the Baltimore Ravens last week, Mayfield took a step back on Sunday. He completed just 22-of-46 passes for 238 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Since mobility is such a big part of his game, it makes sense that he struggled after tweaking his ankle.
