With the Pittsburgh Steelers off to an underwhelming 4-4 start, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger tried to reassure fans that the team had much more to offer in the weeks to come.
In his weekly appearance on 93.7 The Fan’s “The Cook and Poni Show,” Roethlisberger reminded fans that the season was only half over.
“I could do the Aaron Rodgers, ‘Relax,’ but I’m just going to say, it’s halftime,” Roethlisberger said, via CBS Pittsburgh. “We’re at halftime, and we’ve had a lot of great second halves in my career and Pittsburgh Steelers’ season history. It’s not over yet and I’m excited for the second half of the season.”
Roethlisberger did admit that wide receiver Antonio Brown was correct about how he and his teammates needed to step up their game.
“He’s right, people need to step up, myself included,” Roethlisberger said. “We need AB to step up when the time calls for it, we need Le’Veon [Bell], everybody needs to step up when called upon. Guys need to make plays. Not just the routine easy ones, but we need guys to step up and make tough ones. And like I said, it starts with me.”
Of course, Roethlisberger has missed time, but he’s healthy now and the Steelers will need him to be if they want to get where they want to be.
