Davante Adams tells people to ‘shut up’ about controversial spot

There was a controversial ending in the Seattle Seahawks-Green Bay Packers game on Sunday night after a questionable spot helped decide the outcome of the game, but Davante Adams is tired of hearing about it.

Facing a key 3rd-and-9 at the Seattle 45 with two minutes left, the Packers clinched the game with a completion from Aaron Rodgers to Jimmy Graham, but many felt Graham was dragged down short of the line to gain. Replays appeared to show that Graham was short of the yellow first down line on the FOX broadcast, though that graphic is not official. The play was upheld upon review, and Green Bay was able to kneel the clock out to preserve a 28-23 victory.

On Monday morning, Adams shared a photo on his Instagram story that appears to show FOX’s yellow line was inaccurate. The star receiver included a simple caption.

You can understand why Seahawks fans thought Graham was short, but there definitely was not enough evidence to overturn the call. Spotting the ball involves a human element, so it’s always difficult to get it exactly right. Pete Carroll made it clear he was furious about the call, but there was nothing the officiating crew could do.

Broadcasters often remind viewers that the yellow line is unofficial, and this appeared to be a case where it was off slightly. Adams shouldn’t really care what people think about it, however, as his team is headed to the NFC Championship Game regardless.
