DJ Swearinger goes off on Redskins for trading Kendall Fuller
One of the most surprising parts of the trade that brought Alex Smith to Washington was the fact that the Redskins included slot cornerback Kendall Fuller in the deal, and at least one of Fuller’s ex-teammates is furious.
The morning after Fuller was traded — along with a third-round pick — to the Chiefs for Smith, Washington safety D.J. Swearinger blasted the Redskins on Twitter.
“Never Saw Any Bulls— Like This In My Life!! Idc who i rub wrong because you never sat in a meeting nor put in work with my dawg!!” Swearinger wrote. “People say they wanna win right but you throw away your best defender!?!? Somebody you can set a standard with?!?! #Defense will win championships!!”
Fuller was graded as the NFL’s best slot cornerback in 2017 by Pro Football Focus, as he allowed a passer rating of just 55.0 while lined up in the slot. Swearinger also alluded to that.
And We Took a Major Step down from the best slot corner In The Game!! No disrespect to nobody on my squad or coming to my squad but we basically took a step backwards by giving away @KeFu11er who graded 90 overall which is Elite and hard too do!!! Smh

It’s interesting that Swearinger didn’t say anything about losing Cousins, though Cousins is still technically a member of the Redskins. That is sure to change in the coming weeks.
Fuller actually had no idea that he was included in the Smith trade until well after the news broke on Twitter, and he had a hilarious reaction when he finally realized he is headed to Kansas City. Swearinger found the news a lot less entertaining.
