Jaguars coach reveals extent of Trevor Lawrence’s ankle injury
Trevor Lawrence exited the Jacksonville Jaguars’ overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night with what looked like a very painful injury, but tests have since revealed positive news.
Lawrence suffered an ankle injury during the fourth quarter when a teammate stepped on his ankle as the quarterback was being tackled. He appeared to be in serious pain as he was helped to the locker room.
Fortunately, Lawrence’s ligaments and bones are intact. Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Tuesday that Lawrence suffered a high-ankle sprain and will be evaluated as the week goes on.
#Jaguars coach Doug Pederson says QB Trevor Lawrence has "just a right high-ankle sprain." Everything looks stable and they'll see how he looks this week.

“Everything looks stable and they’ll see how he looks this week,” Pederson said.
Pederson did not rule Lawrence out for Jacksonville’s Week 14 game against the Cleveland Browns, which is a great sign. Even if Lawrence sits, it does not sound like the Jaguars expect him to be out for very long.
Lawrence, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has not missed a game in his NFL career. The injury he sustained on Monday was exactly one year to the day from when he suffered another nasty-looking injury last season, and Lawrence did not miss a game after that. The Jaguars are hoping for a similar outcome this time.
