Ezekiel Elliott has found his next home right before the start of the postseason.

The former Dallas Cowboys running back is signing with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz. Elliott will join the team’s practice squad with the hope of being elevated in time for the Chargers’ Wild Card round matchup against the Houston Texans.

The Cowboys parted ways with Elliott last week at the 3-time Pro Bowler’s request. With Dallas flaming out of the playoff picture early, Elliott wanted to latch onto a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

The Chargers won their last three games of the regular season to finish the year with an 11-6 record in part due to a breakout year from running back JK Dobbins. In 13 games, Dobbins rushed for 905 yards with 9 touchdowns on 195 total carries.

Dobbins did miss a handful of games after he suffered a knee injury in a Week 12 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. He was able to return and played well in the Chargers’ final two games of the season. But having some veteran insurance in Elliott certainly won’t hurt the team.

Elliott had career lows across the board this season. In 15 games for the Cowboys, the 29-year-old rushed for 226 yards with 3 touchdowns on 74 carries.
