The Dallas Cowboys have been terrible defensively this season after trading their best defensive player, but Jerry Jones continues to pretend the blockbuster trade is not a factor in the team’s struggles.
Through six games, the Cowboys rank last in the NFL with 411.7 yards allowed per game. They have given up an average of 30.7 points per game, which ranks 31st ahead of only the Baltimore Ravens.
During his interview on 105.2 The Fan on Tuesday, Jones was asked for his thoughts on the Cowboys’ poor defensive play. The 83-year-old decided to bring up how strong the team’s pass rush has been even after trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. Jones even said Dallas has “the most capable pass-rushers that we’ve had.”
“Where we are potentially our strongest is pass rush. We’ve got the most capable pass-rushers that we’ve had,” Jones said. “We’ve got the ability to really rotate our players, which is very important at pass rush because you exert more energy there than any place else. So, there’s ways that we can take our personnel and address what happened to us Sunday.”

The Cowboys have 11 sacks as a team, which ranks 23rd in the NFL. Even if their pass rush is not their most glaring issue on defense, it certainly has not been a strength. Dallas’ secondary has allowed a league-worst 269.5 passing yards per game, and part of the reason for that is their inability to get consistent pressure on the quarterback.
As expected, fans roasted Jones over his latest comments.
So glad fans are FINALLY seeing through the spin.

Jones said after the Parsons trade that he believed the team would be better off in the short term. That has already been proven to be false, as Dallas has one of the worst defenses in the NFL. But no matter how bad it gets, Jones seems determined to continue throwing jabs at Parsons.
At this point, it is clear that there is nothing that could happen with the Cowboys that Jones would attribute to the Parsons trade. Fans can see right through that, and they’re tired of hearing it.
