Giants GM: Jason Pierre-Paul ‘looks like a beast’ at camp

There are plenty of people who believe Jason Pierre-Paul will never be the same player again, and who can blame them? A defensive lineman who relies on explosion, Pierre-Paul has had to learn to play with only one fully functioning hand. According to Giants general manager Jerry Reese, the two-time Pro Bowler is coming along just fine.

Reese told reporters over the weekend that he has been blown away by JPP so far this offseason.

“I just know that back in the spring during (organized team activities), I looked at him a couple of times and saw how he was moving and how he was running and I was like, ‘Wow! I haven’t seen that guy for a little while now,'” the GM said, via Dan Duggan of NJ Advance Media. “He just looked big and fast and explosive and I was just happy to see that. Obviously his hand situation is something that has healed with more time and he learned how to use it better and I expect him to be a load.”

Apparently Reese isn’t the only one who notices, either. He says offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo has made similar observations.

“I was talking to Coach McAdoo last night and he was like, “Man, I have to tone Jason down a little bit because he is going so hard out there,'” Reese said. “Jason looks like a beast out here. His motor is running hot. You are talking about a guy that looks like he is on a mission.”

Pierre-Paul recently revealed that he will not have to wear a cast or any type of custom club on his surgically-repaired right hand this season. When you see the damage that was caused by a fireworks mishap, that might surprise you.

Rather than signing a multiyear deal with another team, Pierre-Paul chose to remain with the Giants on a one-year deal. You could argue that no player in the NFL has more to prove in 2016.
