The New York Giants were one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season, but they have decided not to hit the reset button.
On Monday, Giants owner and president John Mara issued a statement confirming that both head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen will remain in their current roles in 2025.
“Now that our season is over, we felt it necessary to make this statement.

“Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will continue in their respective roles with the organization,” Mara wrote. “As disappointing as the results of the season have been, Steve (Tisch) and I remain confident in the process that Joe and Brian have implemented and their vision for our team.
“We look forward to the future and achieving the results we all desire.”

There had been conflicting reports recently about whether the Giants intended to retain Daboll and/or Schoen. While the belief earlier in the year was that Mara had not lost confidence in either, Dianna Russini of The Athletic wrote over the weekend that people around the NFL believed Daboll would be fired.
The Giants went 3-14 in Daboll’s third season this year. They have fallen off rapidly since going 9-7-1 and reaching the playoffs in Daboll’s first year in 2022.
Schoen was named the GM of the Giants the same year Daboll was hired. Daniel Jones was already the quarterback of the team at the time, and he has since been cut. New York is now armed with the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, so Mara and company likely want to give Daboll and Schoen a chance to either draft and develop or find the team’s new quarterback.
