Jamal Adams is headed back to the NFC North.

The veteran NFL defender Adams is signing with the Minnesota Vikings in free agency. Adams announced the news in a post to his X page on Monday night.

“Year 10,” Adams wrote. “#skol”

Adams, still only 30 years old, was originally the No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Starting his career as a safety, Adams earned two Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro nods in New York and then earned another dual Pro Bowl/All-Pro nod with the Seattle Seahawks upon moving there for the 2020 season.

The former LSU star Adams stayed in Seattle until 2023, at which point he was released by the team after causing a number of issues and also dealing with a major quad injury. He then split time in 2024 between the Tennessee Titans and the Detroit Lions but never quite regained his form at the safety spot.

Adams then signed with the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2025 season and switched to the linebacker position. He actually managed to have a somewhat productive year in Sin City and appeared in all 17 games for the Raiders, producing 45 combined tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.

For Minnesota, they produced a winning season last year (9-8-1) but failed to qualify for the playoffs in a difficult division. The Vikings have already made a couple of notable-name signings on offense, and they will now be hoping that Adams has something left in the tank to contribute to their linebacker corps in 2026.
