Jon Gruden has muted reaction to Antonio Brown joining Patriots

Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden is sticking to the script after Antonio Brown signed with the New England Patriots.

Brown landed with the Patriots mere hours after the Raiders granted him his release. Gruden, reached for comment by Jerry McDonald of Bay Area News Group, was to simply wish his former wide receiver the best.

There’s no way Gruden is happy about this. They wanted to make it work, they tried to accommodate him, and Brown forced his release and landed in New England so fast that some are suspicious that either Brown or the Patriots acted inappropriately. The fact that Brown is so thrilled probably isn’t going to make Gruden and the Raiders happy either. They have nothing to gain from going scorched earth, however, at least on the record.
