Jared Goff’s promotion to starting quarterback of the Los Angeles Rams sounds permanent.
Coach Jeff Fisher spoke for the first time on the change on Tuesday, crediting Goff with the hard work required to supplant Case Keenum. He also essentially said that Goff would remain the starter for the remainder of the season.
“It was just Jared’s progress, and the progression week, after week, after week,” Fisher said, via Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk. “Preparing to be a two, preparing to be a play away from going in. When he got the reps over the last three or four weeks, they were right, they were good, they were good decisions, so it was time.”

Fisher added that this wasn’t just a short-term fix.
“Yeah, we’re committed to this,” Fisher said.
Of course, Fisher said this wouldn’t happen a day before it did, so it’s probably wise to take his words with a grain of salt. That said, the Rams appear to be looking to the future, and we’ll see how ready Goff is with his team still mathematically in contention for a playoff bid.
