Report: Jordan Matthews released by Patriots
Jordan Matthews was viewed by many as one of the most underrated signings of the offseason, but his time with the New England Patriots has already come to an end.
Jim McBride of the Boston Globe reported on Wednesday that the Patriots have decided to release Matthews.
According to a league source, the #Patriots have released WR Jordan Matthews. He had suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s practice.

Matthews was initially expected to play a big role with Julian Edelman suspended four games, but he is dealing with a hamstring injury that is said to be serious. The Patriots are also supposedly high on Kenny Britt, who is having a good offseason in his first full year with the team. Even with Edelman suspended, New England is relatively deep at the receiver position.
Matthews appeared in 10 games for the Buffalo Bills last season and caught just 36 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown. How quickly he is signed by another team will depend on the extent of his injury.
