Teddy Bridgewater has no problem with backup QB role

Teddy Bridgewater

It was a bit of a surprise to some when the New Orleans Saints acquired Teddy Bridgewater, with there being an expectation that he might land on a team where he’d have a chance to start, or at least see the field with some frequency.

Bridgewater will instead serve as Drew Brees’s backup with the New Orleans Saints — a role he has no problem fulfilling.

“For me, I do not mind waiting,” Bridgewater said, via Herbie Teope of NFL.com. “I get to learn from one of the best players to ever play this game and get to be in the room with a great group of guys. I get to learn from coach [Sean] Payton also, so I look forward to that.”

Bridgewater had a solid preseason for the New York Jets and has shown a great mentality in coming back from a traumatic injury. He’s a free agent after the season, and even if he doesn’t play much, maybe the Saints will turn out to be good for his career.
