Falcons rookie running back Tevin Coleman is suddenly in danger of missing the team’s big Week 16 matchup against the undefeated Carolina Panthers. The culprit for Coleman’s abrupt change in status? A home accident while in the shower, apparently.
Atlanta head coach Dan Quinn revealed to the media on Thursday that the 22-year-old is in the concussion protocol after slipping in the shower Wednesday and hitting his head, per D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Coleman was selected by the Falcons in the third round with the 73rd overall pick last April. He has picked up 392 yards on the ground (second-best on the team behind fellow rookie back Devonta Freeman) and a rushing touchdown on 87 carries this season. Coleman has struggled, however, with ball security issues and hasn’t been much of a factor on passing downs in Atlanta’s offense.
If Coleman cannot suit up on Sunday for the 7-7 Falcons, who need to win their last two games and for both the Seahawks and the Vikings to lose their last two in order to make the postseason, Terron Ward will likely get the majority of the carries behind Freeman.
