Tony Romo still may be a bit away from being cleared to play in games for the Dallas Cowboys, which makes questions about the team’s quarterback controversy moot.
Romo has been out since suffering a fracture in his back during the preseason and just began practicing in limited fashion last week. The Cowboys had been targeting a Week 8 return for the quarterback, but with Dak Prescott shining, there is no rush to bring Romo back.
Moreover, NBC’s Michele Tafoya reported during “Sunday Night Football” that it still may take some time for Romo to get medically cleared because doctors are not sure if he’s ready to get hit yet.

“He told me that it felt great to throw at practice this week but there’s a lot that goes into getting medically cleared. Doctors are not sure yet that he is ready to get hit,” Tafoya said.
Given how well Prescott is playing, the longer the Cowboys give Romo to heal, the better. Romo is still waiting to be cleared for full contact in practice.
