Von Miller went on a fishing trip with some friends a year ago that included some illegal activity, but the Denver Broncos star will not be penalized over it.
During the trek, Miller and his buddies reeled in a massive hammerhead shark that was nearly 10 feet in length. The incident gained attention when PETA called for Miller and the people he was with to be held accountable for illegally catching a shark and endangering it, but Miller insisted the shark was thrown back alive.
According to TMZ, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Miller is not facing any penalty but the owner and operator of the fishing boat were charged with fishing for sharks without proper permitting and failure to release a shark in a manner that would ensure the best chance of survival. The NOAA issued a $2,000 fine as punishment.
If Miller’s going to catch any massive fish on future fishing ventures, he should probably try to follow in Mike Trout’s footsteps.
