Bryson DeChambeau dealing with injury as he leads US Open?
Bryson DeChambeau entered Sunday’s final round of the U.S. Open with a three-shot lead, but the LIV Golf star is dealing with an injury that could potentially be a factor for him.
As DeChambeau began the back nine on Saturday at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina, NBC’s Jim “Bones” Mackay reported that Bryson has been dealing with torn ligaments in both of his hips for quite a while. The 2020 U.S. Open winner felt tightness after his first nine holes in the third round.
DeChambeau hit a beautiful tee shot on the 10th hole and made a birdie. He then had some work done by a physiotherapist on the course. DeChambeau asked for cameras to stay away, but NBC captured drone footage that showed him being worked on.

When asked about the apparent injury, DeChambeau’s camp told Golf Digest that the 30-year-old felt discomfort in his right hip when he woke up on Saturday morning. DeChambeau had a shorter warm-up session than usual before his third round because he had some work done ahead of his tee time. His camp did not comment on Mackay’s report that DeChambeau has ligament tears in his hips.
After being treated by the physio, DeChambeau piped another drive on the 11th tee and made his second consecutive birdie. He said after the round that he hasn’t gotten as much rest away from the course as he wants but that the issue is one he has had “for a long time now.”
DeChambeau played well at the PGA Championship last month, where he was the runner-up. He went viral during that tournament because of an awesome gesture he had for a young fan. He has carried a lot of momentum into the U.S. Open and is likely hoping his hip cooperates for at least 18 more holes.
