Antti Raanta did not start in goal for the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday as expected, leading to plenty of confusion before and during the game. But matters later became clear when the team revealed that Raanta did not play because he was involved in a car collision on his way to the game.
Antti Raanta update: Raanta was involved in a rear-end collision on Loop 101 on his way to Gila River Arena tonight. He was shaken up but is ok. He served as the Coyotes backup goaltender tonight versus Dallas but for precautionary reasons, was not on the bench.

Raanta was the backup goalie but was not on the bench. Scott Wedgwood got the start and allowed three goals on 24 shots as the Coyotes lost 4-1 to the Dallas Stars.
It’s unclear whether Raanta will be available for Saturday’s game against the Kings.
