Martellus Bennett says he used ‘Spidey-senses’ to save fan who fell from stands

New York Giants tight end Martellus Bennett was not done working after his team dismantled the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. Bennett was walking toward the locker room after the 38-10 victory when a middle-aged fan lunged over the railing above the tunnel, lost his balance and began plummeting roughly 15 feet to the ground below.

Fortunately for the fan, Bennett was in the process of tossing his gloves to the fans and was there to break his fall.

“I was doing what I usually do, moseying to the locker room and meandering around,” Bennett explained according to USA Today. “Naturally, I just wanted to step back, but I did the righteous thing and I stepped up. I caught him, I saved his life, I tapped into my inner superhero, which I do have.

“I’m usually a ninja, but my Spidey-senses told me he was going to take a fall, so I saved his life. He owes me his first-born or something. Actually I don’t want that. Maybe a sandwich or something.”

Bennett said he tried to slowly pull the man down but tripped and they all went tumbling to the ground. The big tight end fell on a cameraman, but fortunately no one was injured. The fan, however, was taken to stadium offices by New Jersey State Troopers and booked on undisclosed charges.

“That sucks,” Bennett said when told that the tumble got the fan into trouble.

Bennett seems to be enjoying his time in New York, and we’re glad to see him show that in a way other than taking shot after shot at a certain quarterback he used to play with. If only every fan who flipped over a railing had a superhero there to catch them.
