Roki Sasaki holds up his glove

Roki Sasaki had Dodgers fans seriously concerned in his final start of spring training

March 23, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Alarm bells were going off on Roki Sasaki as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ second-year pitcher closed out spring training with an absolute dud.

Sasaki got the start in the Dodgers’ penultimate spring contest against the Los Angeles Angels, and it could not have begun any worse for the Japanese hurler. Sasaki had zero command and had to be taken off the mound before he could record an out in the first inning at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.

The hard-throwing righty started leadoff hitter Zach Neto off with three balls nowhere near the strike zone before hitting him on pitch No. 4. Mike Trout reached on a fielder’s choice to put two runners on base before Sasaki walked the next three batters to give up a 2-0 Angels lead.

Sasaki allowed two earned runs and three walks and failed to get a single out after throwing 30 pitches. Only 13 of them were strikes.

Sasaki was allowed to return in the second inning to face the same order of hitters. After Neto and Trout both got on base again, Sasaki was able to wiggle out of the jam with an inning-ending double play. The Dodgers youngster posted another clean inning in the third before being charged with another earned run in the fourth inning.

It wasn’t the first time Sasaki has been pulled from a spring training start early.

Fans and reporters alike were vocal about Sasaki being a tough player to watch as he works his way back to a starting role.

Roki Sasaki just walked in a second run.

He’s gone through 30 pitches and hasn’t recorded a single out.

This is brutal to watch.

— Dodgers Nation (@DodgersNation) March 24, 2026

Many felt Sasaki’s struggles pointed to him truly being a reliever rather than a full-time starter.

Dodgers made a mistake giving Roki Sasaki a starting job. Far from ready.

— Klein25 (@Klein25) March 24, 2026

Roki Sasaki is a reliever. Quite a turn of events that a guy who was a 60-65 FV prospect (for fair reasons!) going into last year has fallen off this hard.

— Ryan Garcia (@RyanGarciaESM) March 24, 2026

The Dodgers used Sasaki as a late-inning reliever during their run to their second consecutive World Series title. While Sasaki found success in that role, the plan was always for Sasaki to eventually be part of LA’s rotation next to countrymen Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani.

At 24 years old, Sasaki still has a lot of time to grow into the starter that the Dodgers envisioned when they signed him last year. But the lights seem a little too bright for him thus far.

Moses Moody suffers freak leg injury on uncontested dunk attempt

March 23, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao

The Golden State Warriors’ season from hell continued Monday, with Moses Moody suffering a non-contact leg injury against the Dallas Mavericks.

Moody got a clean steal on Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg and had a wide-open lane for a dunk with just over a minute left in overtime at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. As the Warriors swingman took a strong step for a dunk, his left knee completely caved on him. He crumpled to the ground in pain.

The Peacock broadcast briefly showed the gruesome state of Moody’s knee before taking the image off the air. The image is embedded below — you’ve been warned.

Moody’s injury is suspected to be a patellar dislocation of the left knee, which could potentially keep him out for the rest of the Warriors’ season.

Moody, who had just returned after a 10-game stint on the sidelines due to a wrist issue, was in the midst of one of his best games of the season before the injury. He finished with a team-high 23 points to go along with 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. His 20 shot attempts were a season-high for Moody, who looked confident as a top scoring threat for Golden State.

Moody’s injury adds to the slew of health issues plaguing the Warriors this season. Golden State was already reeling from the loss of Jimmy Butler to a torn ACL, while Steph Curry continues to fight through a lingering knee injury.

Cubs lock in Pete Crow-Armstrong to massive new contract

March 23, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The Chicago Cubs have backed up the Brinks truck for Pete Crow-Armstrong.

Several reporters confirmed on Monday that the Cubs are now in agreement with Crow-Armstrong on a new contract expected to keep him in Wrigley Field for the foreseeable future. While the details of the contract have yet to be disclosed, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale called it “a $100-million plus contract extension” to make him the second-highest paid Cub behind Alex Bregman.

Nightengale added that Crow-Armstrong’s deal is expected to be “more than double” the $66 million contract he wisely turned down last spring. PCA bet on himself and won big.

Crow-Armstrong had a breakout 2025 campaign that generated him MVP buzz early in the season. He tallied 31 home runs and 95 RBIs for Chicago at the plate while playing Gold Glove-caliber defense at center field.

PCA cooled off considerably after the All-Star break, which dropped his batting average to .247, but he still finished with a 6.0 WAR and received MVP votes from 15% of the ballots cast.

Crow-Armstrong’s new contract also comes just days before his 24th birthday. With PCA’s best baseball more than likely ahead of him, Cubs fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about where their team is headed.

Tyrese Haliburton had the perfect diss ready after Iowa State crushed Kentucky

March 23, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Tyrese Haliburton was ready with the smoke after his alma mater Iowa State took down Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament.

Haliburton’s Cyclones swept past the Wildcats on Sunday to get past the second round of March Madness in an 82-63 drubbing at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo. Iowa State outscored Kentucky 51-33 in the second half to leave them Big Blue in the dust.

The Indiana Pacers star was feeling pretty good after watching his alma mater dismantle one of college basketball’s blue bloods. He used the opportunity to talk trash to some of his Wildcat peers, but had a hilarious realization: many of them had switched allegiances.

“Went to text the guys who played at Kentucky about this game and forgot they think they Arkansas alum now,” Haliburton posted on X with a laughing emoji.

Went to text the guys who played at Kentucky about this game and forgot they think they Arkansas alum now🤣

— Tyrese Haliburton (@Hali) March 22, 2026

Haliburton is, of course, referring to Kentucky no longer being coached by John Calipari, whose Arkansas Razorbacks did make it to the Sweet 16 with a gritty win over Cinderella-that-never-was High Point.

Several Kentucky alumni over the past decade have become bona fide stars in the NBA, but many of them were recruited and coached by Calipari. Coach Cal’s exit from Kentucky wasn’t just a head coaching swap — it was a changing of the guard for a program long ruled by Calipari, for better or worse.

After Calipari’s unceremonious departure from Lexington in 2024, his relationship with Kentucky and its fans has been muddied at best. It’s fair to wonder where some former Wildcats’ loyalties lie: Kentucky or Calipari.

Celtics star admits he’s in on 1 major U.S. conspiracy theory

March 23, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Derrick White has officially taken over for Kyrie Irving as the Boston Celtics’ resident conspiracy theorist.

Years ago, Irving infamously claimed he believed the Earth was flat after conducting extensive research on Instagram, widely known as an infallible hub of information. White apparently may have been on those same Instagram conspiracy pages.

Last week, White and Joe Mazzulla appeared on a local radio show where the Celtics coach outed White as a conspiracy theorist. There was also some debate about whether White believed in the 1969 moon landing.

The Colorado alum made it clear on a recent episode of his “White Noise” podcast that he has his doubts about whether the Apollo 11 mission took place.

“I wouldn’t call myself a conspiracy theorist,” White said. “But I do think they are very interesting. … I don’t think we did. I’m a non-moon landing guy. We probably did, but I don’t think we did. I don’t really know, but I don’t think we did.”

— White Noise Podcast w/Derrick White (@whitenoisepod_) March 23, 2026

White sounded less like a tinfoil hat wearer and more like someone who gets a little loose intellectually when he has a nice buzz going. The man may simply enjoy the occasional YouTube deep dive on the subject as a few respectable folks do.

Celtics fans will probably accept White regardless of which innocent conspiracy theories he believes in after he helped raise Boston’s 18th NBA Championship banner two seasons ago.

Draymond Green responds to diss from ex-Lakers champion

March 23, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Four Rings is feuding this week with Seven Rings.

Retired former Los Angeles Lakers champion Robert Horry drew attention over the weekend with his remarks on the Spectrum SportsNet postgame show after the Lakers’ win against the Orlando Magic. Horry was commenting about the saga in which Lakers star Luka Doncic received a technical foul for jawing with Magic center Goga Bitadze (with Doncic later claiming that Bitadze made threats against his family).

Horry expressed disagreement with the technical foul for Doncic and used Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green as an example of a player who is allowed to get away with much more without receiving a technical.

“I always laugh because I’ve always seen certain players, I’m not gonna call no names *coughs* Draymond Green, that says things to the refs and they let it slide. But when you say things to another player, there’s no pushing or shoving, you wanna call a double tech on the… pic.twitter.com/xrcwLCL4Ve

— (@PurpGolded) March 22, 2026

On the latest episode of his self-titled podcast, Green responded to the stray from Horry.

“Goga Bitadze said he would f–k [Luka’s] whole family up,” said Green. “At some point I can’t stand for that. I gotta stand up for myself. Robert Horry goes on the show and brings me up in the conversation.

“Maybe I think he wanted some attention,” Green continued of Horry. “So everybody let’s get give Robert Horry the attention he deserves. But I don’t know what I had to do with this.”

Doncic eventually got a happy ending as the technical foul was retroactively rescinded by the NBA (meaning that Doncic, for now, does not have to serve a one-game suspension for accumulation of technicals). Meanwhile, Green is right that he didn’t have anything to do with the situation at hand. But Green only has his own unsightly behavior on the court to blame for why he has such a reputation as the NBA’s single worst troublemaker.

Scottie Pippen takes a shot at Michael Jordan in new commercial

March 23, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Scottie Pippen is continuing his blood feud with his former co-star.

The retired Basketball Hall of Famer Pippen appeared in an ad for Mr. Pibb that was released last week. In the commercial, Pippen took a notable shot at his estranged ex-Chicago Bulls teammate Michael Jordan, whom he famously won six championships with in the 1990s.

“When something has been considered second-best for so long, we just blindly accept it as gospel,” said Pippen, who was regarded as the clear sidekick to Jordan on the Bulls.

When a voiceover then mentioned the ills of “a decades-long plot built on marketing, social media,” Pippen then chimed in by adding, “Multi-part documentaries.” Here is the video of the ad.

— Mr Pibb (@mrpibb) March 20, 2026

While that Mr. Pibb commercial was certainly very light-hearted, the beef between Pippen and Jordan is very real. Pippen was especially enraged by his portrayal in the Jordan-produced ESPN docuseries “The Last Dance” and openly spoke out against it around the time that it was released.

Since then, Pippen has continued to air out his public gripes against Jordan. Now that is continuing this month with the now 60-year-old Pippen’s soft drink commercial for Mr. Pibb.

Dodgers reveal their starting rotation for the 2026 season

March 23, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The Los Angeles Dodgers have decided on their five best (available) pitchers.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed to reporters this week what the team’s starting rotation will look like to begin the 2026 campaign. The Dodgers are set to trot out Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, Emmet Sheehan, and Shohei Ohtani as their starting five, per Katie Woo of The Athletic.

Roberts did also mention that lefty reliever Justin Wrobleski could be getting some starts down the stretch as well. However, the Dodgers reportedly plan to use Wrobleski in a piggyback role to start the season (coming in for the day’s starter and pitching multiple innings in relief).

The biggest surprise in that name is probably the righty Sheehan, 26. Sheehan missed all of the 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery and only returned midway through the 2025 season, posting a 2.82 ERA over 12 total starts.

However, the Dodgers are also still dealing with some injuries to the rest of their rotation, most notably to ex-Cy Young winner Blake Snell, who is not expected to debut until late May due to shoulder inflammation. Bobby Miller and Gavin Stone are also among the Dodgers’ starters who are still recovering from long-term injuries of their own.

The back-to-back defending World Series champion Dodgers will begin the regular season on March 26 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. They had some major additions over the course of the offseason, and it looks like their rotation is in a very good place as well (injuries notwithstanding).

LeBron James posts ugly halftime stat line not seen since 2010

March 23, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

4-time MVP LeBron James looked mortal on Monday in the first half of the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Detroit Pistons.

Despite consistently outpacing Father Time through the years, the 41-year-old James finally looked his age before halftime at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. The Lakers star went scoreless in the first half for the first time since 2010 — a full decade and a half later.

James missed all five of his shots and looked checked out offensively, relative to his usual standards.

His first scoreless first half since 2010. pic.twitter.com/hkjDAq3AGV

— Underdog NBA (@UnderdogNBA) March 24, 2026

James did help his team in other ways, tallying 4 rebounds and 6 assists. But his scoring absence clearly affected the Lakers, who trailed 65-52 at the break.

The 22-time All-Star bounced back in the second half. He finished with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists, but the near triple-double came in a 113-110 loss to end the Lakers 9-game winning streak.

For years, the idea of James having a scoreless half would have been unfathomable. His physically imposing frame used to get him easy points while also serving as the central hub of his team’s scoring attack. That changed this season with Luka Doncic firmly at the center of the Lakers’ offense, with James being reduced to a third option behind Austin Reaves.

Earlier this season, fans saw James’ legendary 10-point streak come to an end. His scoreless half on Monday may not be as significant a decline marker, but it does point to James’ shrinking role on a Lakers team he once led to a championship.

Victor Wembanyama has an unusual new celebration

March 23, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Victor Wembanyama is giving off some real Giannis Antetokounmpo energy these days.

The San Antonio Spurs star Wembanyama drew attention during Monday’s game against the Miami Heat for his unusual new celebration. In the second quarter at Kaseya Center in Miami, Fla., Wembanyama caught the ball in transition and threw down a one-handed dunk through a couple of Heat players in the area.

He then proceeded to celebrate by sticking his tongue all the way out in the direction of his teammates. Check out the video.

Wemby dunks all over the Heat and does his 'freak' celebration pic.twitter.com/FWpQVI0VYP

— NBA Courtside (@NBA__Courtside) March 23, 2026

That was not just a spontaneous moment for Wembanyama either. During a game earlier this week, the seven-footer was seen doing a very similar tongue motion while sitting on the San Antonio bench.

Wembanyama, 22, has really come into his own during his third NBA season. He is averaging 24.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, and a league-leading 3.0 blocks per game and is looking like one of the top candidates for NBA MVP with the Spurs sitting at 53-18 overall (second in the West).

As for Wembanyama’s new celebration … well, that one can speak for itself. At least it was not quite as weird as the celebration that Kevin Durant busted out a couple of seasons ago.

Bucks curiously part ways with Cam Thomas after just 1 month

March 23, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The Milwaukee Bucks are abruptly pulling the plug on the Cam Thomas experiment.

Milwaukee is waiving their shooting guard Thomas, Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Monday. The move ends Thomas’ run with the Bucks just over one month after they signed him as a free agent in February.

Thomas, the 24-year-old former first-round pick, has quickly become one of the most polarizing players in the NBA. He played the first four-and-a-half seasons of his career with the Brooklyn Nets and scored an impressive 24.0 points per game for them last year.

But Thomas quickly wore out his welcome in Brooklyn this year. He missed significant time thanks to a hamstring injury and only averaged 15.6 points per game for the Nets when healthy (even getting benched by the team at one point for stat-padding).

Thomas was waived by Brooklyn in early February and signed with Milwaukee days later (eventually taking multiple parting shots at the Nets after doing so). But Thomas was even worse for the Bucks, averaging just 10.7 points in 16.6 minutes per game over 18 total appearances the bench and posting rough shooting splits of 43/28/75.

It appears that NBA defenses have fully caught up to Thomas, an inefficient shot-chucker who has difficulty getting all the way to the rim and is also not enough of a playmaker to warrant his high usage rate. Thomas would no longer be eligible for this year’s playoffs even if he does get signed by another team, so it remains to be seen what his pro career might look like from here.

We have seen some iconic endorsement deals in MLB over just the course of the last several months. But there is nothing with a better and more fitting ring to it than Ben Rice endorsing Ben’s Original Rice.

Kentucky coach addresses Yaxel Lendeborg’s $7-$9 million NIL claim

March 23, 2026 by Matt Wadleigh
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball head coach Mark Pope is facing a long offseason after another early exit in the NCAA Tournament.

No. 7 seed Kentucky lost to No. 2 seed Iowa State 82-63 in the Round of 32 on Sunday at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo. A day later, Pope spoke to reporters, and one question was asked about Michigan star Yaxel Lendeborg’s claim of receiving an NIL offer from Kentucky in the $7-$9 million range.

Pope strongly shut down that report, saying it is “false.”

“I don’t want to spend all my time chasing out, chasing all the false stories and correct him. I actually don’t want to be a fact check, but stories like that, for example, that story is 100% categorically false with no truth to it whatsoever,” Pope said, via Keith Taylor of The Associated Press.

Pope added that there are a lot of false narratives while mentioning that “stories like that just aren’t true.”

Lendeborg, who spent the previous two seasons at UAB, transferred to Michigan last offseason. Prior to the NCAA Tournament, the Wolverines’ star told the AP that Kentucky’s offer started in the $7-$9 million range, so that came directly from Lendeborg himself.

“They started the number with $7 to 9 (million),” Lendeborg said. “They were pretty much going off on the route like we’ll pay him anything to get here.”

It’s quite a statement from Pope, especially with Lendeborg stating otherwise.

Kentucky’s blowout loss to Iowa State has some wondering whether or not Pope is the right coach for the program.

A year ago, Kentucky made the Sweet 16, but the Wildcats lost to Tennessee. At the start of SEC play this year, fans wanted Pope fired after a winless start, but things slowly improved with the Wildcats making March Madness.

Kentucky enters a very important offseason, and Pope has a lot of work to do in hopes of bringing this program back to the Final Four.

Anonymous NFL GM predicts Anthony Richardson’s next team

March 23, 2026 by Matt Wadleigh
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The NFL free agency period and trade market have slowed down after a flurry of moves at the start of the new league year.

One name still floating around is Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson. The Colts allowed Richardson to seek a trade, and as of now, nothing has materialized for the former No. 4 overall draft pick.

However, one team has been pegged as a potential landing spot: The Green Bay Packers.

Sportsboom’s NFL insider Jason La Canfora said one general manager made the prediction.

“Green Bay, I bet, brings him in,” the GM told La Canfora.

After Richardson began to explore a trade, the Minnesota Vikings were immediately linked as a realistic option. However, they recently signed Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz to compete with J.J. McCarthy.

In the middle of March, ESPN’s Stephen Holder named the Packers as a team to watch for Richardson, so that aligns with La Canfora’s latest update.

The Packers watched backup QB Malik Willis sign a $67.5 million deal with the Miami Dolphins, so Green Bay needs to bring in a backup.

Richardson played in just two games this past season due to injuries and Daniel Jones winning the job out of camp.

Still, Richardson is just 23 years old (he turns 24 in May), and could be had a low price, especially if he remains available leading up to the NFL Draft.

The men’s NCAA Tournament has a few surprises in the Sweet 16 with No. 9 seed Iowa and No. 11 seed Texas.

On Monday, the women’s Sweet 16 saw a giant upset with No. 10 seed Virginia knocking off No. 2 seed Iowa 83-75 in double overtime at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.

It's the first time a First Four team has made the Sweet 16 in history of the women's tournament.

— Colin Salao (@colincsalao) March 23, 2026

Virginia won its First Four game with a 57-55 win over No. 10 seed Arizona State. Then, Virginia knocked off No. 7 seed Georgia 82-73 in the Round of 64 game on Saturday in Iowa City.

Kymora Johnson led the Cavaliers with 28 points, including the game-tying jumper with 13 seconds remaining to send it into double overtime.

The women’s tournament went mostly chalk in the first two rounds as Virginia was the only double-digit seed remaining, and now the Cavaliers have punched their ticket to the Sweet 16 since 2000.

Virginia now will face No. 3 seed TCU on Saturday with the game at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., and an Elite Eight berth on the line.

Arizona State has decided on Bobby Hurley’s replacement

The college basketball coaching carousel is quickly spinning as the NCAA Tournament gears up for the Sweet 16.

Arizona State decided not to bring back head coach Bobby Hurley after missing out on the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. Now, the Sun Devils have agreed to hire former Saint Mary’s coach Randy Bennett, with Trilly Donovan first on the report. ESPN’s Jeff Borzello added that it is a five-year deal for Bennett.

Sources: Saint Mary's head coach Randy Bennett has agreed to become the next head coach at Arizona State.

Hurley spent 11 seasons as Arizona State’s head coach, finishing with a 185-167 record with three NCAA Tournament trips.

Bennett, who has been the Saint Mary’s head coach since the 2001-02 season, has a 589-228 record and 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, including five in a row.

Arizona State made it official shortly after.

Bennett has been a hot commodity for quite some time, and he turned down the UNLV job in 2016 while gaining plenty of interest elsewhere during his time at Saint Mary’s.

After Saint Mary’s lost to Texas A&M in the Round of 64, all signs pointed to Bennett leaving, especially with Gonzaga leaving the West Coast Conference to join the revamped Pac-12, which is a big loss for the other WCC programs.

So, not even a week after an NCAA Tournament loss, Bennett is headed to Arizona State to be the new head coach in Tempe.

Teddy Bridgewater cracks joke about his high school coaching scandal

Teddy Bridgewater has a sense of humor about the bizarre scandal that led to a suspension from his high school coaching job.

Bridgewater is joining the Detroit Lions for a third stint as their backup quarterback, and the deal was finalized and announced on Monday. When he met with the media, Bridgewater was asked if he had any plans to ever return to high school coaching after he was suspended by Miami Northwestern Senior High School in Miami, Fla. for allegedly providing impermissible benefits to players.

Bridgewater did not rule it out, though he cracked a joke about where he might actually be willing to coach.

“I think I’m gonna do private school,” Bridgewater joked.

#Lions QB Teddy Bridgewater, asked if he thinks he'll one day get back to coaching, jokes that if he does coach high school again, "I think I'm gonna do private school."

— Nolan Bianchi (@nolanbianchi) March 23, 2026

The joke for Bridgewater is that he might not face the same blowback at a private school as he did at Miami Northwestern. He has defended himself for his conduct at the school, saying he was simply trying to protect his players and keep them out of dangerous situations by paying for Uber rides for them.

Clearly, Bridgewater will not be returning to high school coaching for at least another year in light of his decision to sign with the Lions. He sounds like he is still stung by the experience when he was just trying to do right by his players.

MLB player was denied a challenge thanks to weird rule

March 23, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

MLB players who want to make use of the new challenge system for balls and strikes are going to have to make up their minds quickly if they want those challenges to be recognized.

Houston Astros infielder Cavan Biggio found out the hard way that the new ABS challenge rules contain a strange caveat that could particularly impact hitters. During Sunday’s spring training game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Biggio took a 3-2 pitch on the inside corner for called strike three. Biggio flipped his bat, believing he had drawn a walk, before tapping his helmet to challenge the call.

To challenge, however, the signal has to come immediately. Since Biggio flipped his bat before tapping his helmet, that was considered too long of a delay, and the challenge was not granted.

A very important feature of the ABS system that not many people know about:

While this may seem harsh, there is a legitimate reason why MLB wants challenges to be immediate. The league does not want anyone on the field being assisted by anyone in the dugout on whether to challenge or not. Giving players time to consider a challenge risks that outcome.

Some players might have to adapt to this, because an instant gesture of frustration might rob them of the chance to challenge. The new system has also created some awkward moments for umpires, too.

Ty Simpson warming up for Alabama

Notable QB has established himself as a likely 1st round pick

One NFL Draft hopeful at quarterback seems to have firmly cemented himself as a first round pick in next month’s NFL Draft.

In an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter addressed rumors that some NFL teams have Alabama’s Ty Simpson as the top quarterback on their draft boards. While Schefter was unwilling to go that far, he suggested that Simpson has firmly established himself as a first-round selection.

“The one thing I can say confidently right now in talking to front offices, and it’s not going out on a limb, Ty Simpson will be a first-round draft pick,” Schefter said.

Simpson has seemingly trended up throughout the NFL Draft process. The former Alabama quarterback threw for 3,567 yards with 28 touchdowns and five interceptions for the Crimson Tide last season, and NFL teams like what they have seen and heard from him during workouts as well.

Simpson has a rather unusual dream destination in the draft that might actually be plausible. It remains to be seen just how high he might go, but quarterbacks are always in high demand, and it would not be a huge surprise to see him go higher than expected if someone really believes in him.

Buccaneers make big addition to their defense

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made a big addition to their defense.

Tampa Bay is signing linebacker Christian Rozeboom in a move that will keep him within the division. Rozeboom had 122 tackles and two sacks last season with the Carolina Panthers.

Rozeboom, who was undrafted out of South Dakota State in 2020, will be playing with his fourth team. He began his career with the Los Angeles Rams and also spent some time with the Kansas City Chiefs prior to joining Carolina last year. He had 135 tackles and a sack for the Rams in the 2024 season, which was his most productive season.

Rozeboom played in all 17 regular season games from 2022-2024, though he missed two games last season. The Bucs have tried to make some additions at the linebacker position in case Lavonte David does not return for the 2026 season.

The Bucs went 8-9 last season, which tied the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons for the best record in the NFC South. The Bucs ranked 20th in points allowed and 19th in yards allowed last season.

Rozeboom won a Super Bowl with the Rams during the 2021 season. He was part of a questionable tackle from Tua Tagovailoa in 2024.
