British Beach Volleyball Players Wearing Bar Codes on Their Bikini Bottoms

The 2012 London Olympics will be remembered as the games in which the beach volleyball players put their backsides into it. At least that’s how it will be for one U.K. team.

The beach volleyball team of Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin has sold advertising space on their bikini bottoms that will encourage fans to take pictures of their rear ends. Their bottoms will feature a quick response code. When users take a picture of the code on their smart phone, they’ll be taken to the Betfair website.

The London Daily Mail guesses the team was paid a five-figure sum for the advertising deal. The women plan to try out the barcode bikinis during a tournament this week, but they’re not allowed to wear them during the actual Olympics because of sponsorship rules.

Dampney and Mullin are currently ranked 26th in the world and hope to move up 10 ranking spots by the time the Summer Games begin.
