Jets WR says Tim Tebow throws harder than Mark Sanchez

When Tim Tebow was evaluated by scouts for the NFL draft, one of the knocks against him was his lack of arm strength. Either he’s improved in that area, or Mark Sanchez is far worse, because one Jets receiver says Tebow can sling it much harder than Sanchez.

“(Tebow’s) ball comes out a little bit stronger, but he’s accurate, he’s more accurate than what I thought he was going to be,” Kerley told The Newark Star-Ledger on Tuesday. “But he’s a good dude, he has a great personality, he’ll bring a lot of personality to the team.”

When asked how much more velocity on a throw than Sanchez, Kerley said: “A LOT, a lot more velocity. No dis to Mark, he brings it, man.”

If Tebow “brings it” in Kerley’s eyes, he must not have ever played with a strong-armed quarterback. (Kerley played college ball at TCU with Andy Dalton at QB.) We saw Tebow throw last season as Denver’s quarterback, and throwing hard did not appear to be part of his repertoire. So either Sanchez’s arm is much weaker than we realized, or Tebow’s arm strength has really improved, or Kerley just doesn’t know what a hard-throwing quarterback looks like.

Maybe Tebow’s work with Noel Mazzone over the summer is the reason for the change. If that’s the case, then the Jets are getting an improved QB.
