Aaron Judge’s first home run since DL return helps Yankees tie record

Aaron Judge

Aaron Judge’s first home run since returning from the disabled list was a significant one.

Judge led off the top of the 8th inning for the New York Yankees against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night and smashed the first pitch he saw to center field. The ball cleared the deepest part of the Green Monster, sailing out of the park to put the Yankees up 11-4.

The homer was Judge’s first since July 21st; he missed nearly two months with a wrist injury and only returned full-time on Sept. 18.

In addition to the homer being an important personal achievement for Judge, it also helped the Yankees tie a record. The homer gave the Yanks 264 home runs, tying them with the 1997 Seattle Mariners for the most ever by a team.

The Yankees have to be thrilled about seeing Judge finally homer. We already identified him as being one of the most important players entering the postseason.
