A.J. Hinch was upset after Houston’s 3-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday over a controversial call that broke a tie in the game.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, A.J. Pollock hit a triple that scored Daniel Descalso from first base. The throw to third base was errant, and upon reaching his feet after sliding, Pollock made contact with Alex Bregman as he attempted to head towards home plate. Bregman was ruled to have interfered with Pollock, who was awarded home, giving Arizona a 2-1 lead. Pollock had been thrown out at home during the live play on the field.

Following the game, Astros manager A.J. Hinch called the interference rule a “horse—-” one and a brutal way to lose a game.

It appears Pollock initiated the contact with Bregman after reaching his feet, which is apparently what Hinch is upset about. Hinch has good reason for being mad about the call.
In the end, Justin Verlander, who started the game for Houston, took his first regular season loss since being traded to the Astros last August.
