The victim in a domestic violence case against New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia has reportedly asked for the charges to be dropped.
Newsday’s Jim Baumbach reported the story, citing the prosecutor in the case. Familia was arrested and charged late last month.

It is important to note that, even if the charges are dropped, Familia will still be subject to discipline from Major League Baseball. Jose Reyes, Familia’s current teammate, was suspended for 51 games despite the fact that his domestic violence case was dismissed before going to trial. In addition, Aroldis Chapman was suspended for 30 games though he was never even charged. Familia is facing an MLB investigation and possible suspension no matter how his criminal case proceeds.
