The early word on Greg Bird seems to be pretty positive.
The New York Yankees first baseman has been bothered by his foot, which has been an issue since last year. He went for an MRI and CT scan on Saturday, which revealed he has inflammation. The Yankees said Bird would visit a foot specialist on Monday.
Update on 1B Greg Bird: Results from an MRI and CT scan taken earlier today revealed right foot inflammation. Bird is scheduled to be evaluated by foot specialist, Dr. Martin O’Malley, on Monday in New York.

Bird fouled a ball off his foot in spring training last year and was never right throughout the season. He ended up undergoing surgery during the season but returned in late August. Bird hit well upon his return and carried that into the playoffs, where he bashed two doubles and three home runs in 13 games.
The 25-year-old has a powerful bat but has had trouble staying healthy. He has slugged 20 homers in 94 career regular season games.
